There was a wedding ceremony for a poor couple in a small countryside village. It was put together by one of the benefactors of the village. The festivities were quite elaborate and spirits were high all around. The bride and groom had a genuinely good time and were immensely grateful. When night came, everyone saw to their homes and the happy couple did as newlyweds do. After everyone was fast asleep, assassins swarmed the town and killed all within, old and young, man and woman, beast and bird. The village was subsequently burned. You see, generations ago, that benefactor’s forebear was evicted from the village over a deep shame. All had forgotten who he was.
